Denver Broncos: Denver Has Easiest Strength of Schedule Entering 2013

You know how the 2012 Denver Broncos had the second-toughest schedule entering the 2012 NFL season based upon their opponents' records from the 2011 season? Well, 2013 looks to be the exact opposite.

The 2013 Denver Broncos will have the easiest strength of schedule based upon their opponents' 2012 records. Although the official schedule has yet to be released, Denver's 2013 opponents have been revealed. 

In Denver's home slate, they'll face divisional opponents Kansas City, San Diego, Oakland along with Jacksonville, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Washington and the defending Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens. 

Of those eight opponents, just two finished with winning records – the Ravens and the Redskins.

Denver's away slate is a bit tougher, as outside of their interdivisional matchups, the Broncos have dates with the Texans, Colts, Cowboys, Giants and Patriots. Outside of their AFC West foes, all of those games are versus teams with winning records from 2012.

All in all however, Denver's 2013 opponents' winning percentage from 2012 stands at just .430.

Again though, it looked as if Denver would go through a brutal 16-game stretch with the second-toughest schedule entering the season. After a rough 2-3 start, the Broncos rebounded to end the regular season with 11 straight wins and a 13-3 record – tied for best in the NFL.

What is the lesson in all of this?

Strength of schedule based upon previous seasons' records means absolutely nothing. 

But considering it's mid-February and we're still nearly half a year away from actual football being played again? We'll take it as actual news.
